Storyline

A Hindu priest in Banaras reluctantly agrees when his family takes in an abandoned child. Years later, they discover the child is Muslim and give him away, with the priest undergoing a strict purification ritual. When riots later force the boy to seek shelter again, the priest realizes that helping others is the most important faith of all.
