How GudVibe Works

Last updated: April 2026

About This Data

GudVibe aggregates data from The Movie Database (TMDB), IMDb, Wikipedia, and BoxOfficeIndia. All factual data — cast, crew, release dates, and box office figures — reflects publicly available records from these sources. Editorial enrichment including narrative summaries, thematic analysis, and mood classifications is produced by the GudVibe editorial team and is not sourced from any third party.

Ratings

Ratings displayed on GudVibe are sourced from TMDB's community vote average (vote_average, scale 0–10), weighted proportionally by vote_count. A film requires a minimum vote count threshold to display a rating; below this threshold the rating is shown as N/A. Ratings reflect aggregated audience scores and are not editorial opinions or recommendations by GudVibe.

Verdicts

Verdicts on GudVibe's battle and head-to-head comparison features are determined by community vote. Registered users cast one vote per match-up. The verdict label — Won, Lost, or Draw — reflects the majority outcome at the time of the most recent data sync. Verdicts are community-driven and are not editorial endorsements or rankings by GudVibe.

Credited vs. Uncredited Appearances

  • Credited appearances are sourced directly from TMDB crew/cast records where the person is listed in the official credit block of the film.
  • Uncredited / special appearances are noted where publicly documented via Wikipedia or press sources, but may not appear in all filmography views depending on available data.
  • Guest appearances and voice roles are included where data is available and are tagged with the relevant role label (e.g., "special appearance", "voice").

Update Cadence

  • Film and person data is refreshed every 7 days via incremental static regeneration (ISR).
  • Newly released films typically appear within 7–14 days of their TMDB listing.
  • Editorial enrichment (narrative, themes, mood) is updated manually on a rolling basis by the GudVibe team.
  • Streaming availability (OTT) is updated weekly but may lag behind platform changes by up to 14 days.

Hit Ratio

A film is counted as a hit when its GudVibe audience rating is 6.5 or above (on a 0–10 scale), provided it has reached the minimum vote-count threshold required to display a rating. Films below the threshold are excluded from the calculation entirely — they neither count as hits nor as misses. Hit Ratio is then the share of qualifying films that meet this threshold, expressed as a percentage. A score of 34% means 34 out of every 100 eligible films in the person's filmography rated 6.5 or above by the GudVibe community.

Versatility Score

Versatility is scored 1–10 and measures three dimensions of a person's filmography: genre range (how many distinct genres they appear in), language range (how many industry languages — Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada — they have significant work in), and role-type diversity (actor, director, producer, and so on). A score of 9/10 means the person consistently works across a wide variety of genres and industries, while 1/10 would indicate a very narrow specialisation within a single genre and language.

Critical Score

Critical Score (1–10) is a weighted average of GudVibe community ratings across a person's filmography, with films that have higher vote counts contributing more to the final score than films with sparse votes. It differs from the plain average rating shown on individual film pages: it down-weights outliers caused by low vote counts and up-weights films with strong, broad community consensus. Films below the minimum vote threshold are excluded.

Career Phase

Career Phase is a categorical classification based on years of activity and total credit count. The five phases are:

  • Emerging — fewer than 5 years active or fewer than 10 credits. Early-career artists establishing their presence.
  • Rising — 5–10 years active with a growing credit list and increasing visibility.
  • Peak — active in the last 3 years, 10+ years of experience, consistently releasing work with strong audience engagement.
  • Veteran — 15+ years active with 30 or more credits spanning multiple decades, regardless of recent release cadence.
  • Legend — 25+ years active with a body of work that has demonstrably influenced the industry, based on cross-references in editorial content and community acclaim.
