Trivia

  • This was the first film directed by G. Marimuthu, who later became well-known as a character actor in Tamil cinema.
  • The film's title 'Kannum Kannum' is a phrase from a classic Tamil song by poet Subramania Bharati, meaning 'eye to eye'.
  • The movie was shot extensively in the scenic hill station of Kutralam (Courtallam), known for its waterfalls.
  • Actor Prasanna, who played the lead, was primarily known for urban roles, making this rural romantic drama a slight shift.
  • The plot revolves around poetry, but the film itself had only a few original songs composed by Vidyasagar.
  • Despite being a romance, the film did not feature the typical large dance numbers common in Tamil films of that era.
  • Director Marimuthu also wrote the dialogue for the film, drawing on his experience as a dialogue writer for other directors.
