→Trivia
- The film's title 'Mercury Pookkal' refers to a specific type of flower, but its symbolic connection to the plot is not explicitly explained.
- Director S. S. Stanley is better known for his work in Telugu cinema, making this a rare Tamil directorial venture.
- The movie was shot extensively in and around Trichy, capturing the local college atmosphere and landmarks.
- Actor Nakul, who played the lead, was primarily known for romantic roles, but this film had a more family-oriented, comedic tone.
- The soundtrack by composer Vidyasagar included a popular song 'Kangal Irandal', which became a hit on local music channels.
- Despite the cast including known actors like Vadivelu for comedy, the film had a very limited theatrical run and low box office collections.
- The plot's conflict between urban and rural family values was a common theme in mid-2000s Tamil cinema, but this film approached it with a lighter touch.
