Trivia
- The film's title 'Naan Than Bala' translates to 'I am Bala', directly linking to the protagonist's identity and moral journey.
- Director G. J. Kannan had primarily worked as an assistant director for many years before making this his solo directorial debut.
- Actor Rajkiran, who plays Bala, is known for his roles in socially conscious films, which aligned with this movie's reform-themed storyline.
- The movie features a cameo by veteran comedian 'Motta' Rajendran in a supporting role, adding a touch of comedy to the dramatic plot.
- Despite its themes of crime and redemption, the film was a low-budget production and had a limited theatrical release in Tamil Nadu.
- The character name 'Poochi' means 'insect' in Tamil, symbolically reflecting how society views the hitman as a pest before his transformation.
- The soundtrack was composed by S. N. Prasad, who is better known for his work in Telugu cinema, making this a less common Tamil project for him.
