Trivia
- The film was originally planned with a different director before K. S. Ravikumar took over.
- The movie's plot was inspired by a real-life news report about a bus conductor helping the disabled.
- The climax was shot in a specially constructed set to resemble a large courtroom.
- The film's title 'Villain' refers to the protagonist's morally complex actions, not a traditional antagonist.
- It was one of the few Telugu films at the time to prominently feature disability rights as a central theme.
- The music composer, S. A. Rajkumar, reused one of his own Tamil film tunes for a song in this movie.
- The film underperformed at the box office despite its unique social message and star cast.
