Trivia

  • This was Boman Irani's first time directing a feature film after decades as an actor.
  • The movie's title is a playful nod to the classic 1986 film 'The Karate Kid', which also features a student-mentor dynamic.
  • Several scenes were filmed in a single, real Mumbai apartment to make the father-son conflict feel more authentic.
  • Actor Jim Sarbh, who plays the son, learned basic architectural sketching for his role as a struggling architect.
  • The script was partly inspired by the director's own observations of generational gaps in modern Indian families.
  • It was shot in a relatively short schedule of 35 days, focusing on the two main characters' intense interactions.
  • The film's soundtrack uses a rare classical Indian instrument, the santoor, to underscore emotional moments between the father and son.
