Trivia

  • The film's title 'Nakshatra' means 'star' in Hindi, but the movie had a very limited theatrical release and is not widely remembered.
  • Director Mohan Savalkar was primarily known for his work in Marathi cinema, making this a rare Hindi-language venture for him.
  • Actor Sharad Kelkar, who plays the friend Sharad, was already a known face on Indian television but had few film roles at this time.
  • The movie's plot about a writer accused of a crime he didn't commit echoes a common theme in 1970s Hindi thrillers, but it failed to find a big audience.
  • Despite being a thriller with romance elements, the film did not have a major soundtrack release or popular songs, which was unusual for Hindi films then.
  • Parts of the film were reportedly shot in Pune, a city not as commonly featured in Hindi cinema as Mumbai or overseas locations.
  • The film's synopsis suggests a twist where the friend helps the hero, but the friend's role becomes suspicious, a narrative device used in many earlier Indian mystery films.
