• Pran and Vinod Mehra first shared screen space in Jwalamukhi (1980) because the director, Shibu Mitra, needed a veteran villain to bounce off Mehra's angry-young-man energy. Pran agreed only after Mehra personally visited him at home and narrated the entire script.
• In Lalach (1983), Pran deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery in their confrontation scene to force Vinod Mehra to match his rhythm. Mehra later told a trade magazine that Pran's pause made him 'act with his eyes instead of his mouth' for the first time.
• During the shoot of Mitti Aur Sona (1989), Pran noticed Vinod Mehra was struggling with a personal loss. Pran quietly arranged for a puja on set without telling Mehra, and the two spent the lunch break sitting silently together — something Mehra's wife later called 'the kindest thing anyone did for him that year.'
