• Pran was the original choice for the villain in Nigahen: Nagina Part II (1989), but he was hesitant to play a negative role again after retiring from villainy. Anupam Kher convinced him to take it, promising it would be a dignified part. Pran agreed only after Kher personally rewrote a few of his lines.
• In Do Hanso Ka Joda (1992), Pran played a strict father and Anupam Kher played his comic sidekick. Kher deliberately slowed down his delivery to match Pran's measured style, creating a rhythm where Pran's deadpan reactions set up Kher's punchlines. Kher later said Pran taught him 'the power of a pause' in comedy.
• During the shoot of 1942: A Love Story (1994), Pran was 74 and struggling with his lines due to age. Anupam Kher would rehearse with him every morning at 5 AM in the hotel lobby, running through Pran's scenes until he was comfortable. They never told the director about these sessions.
• The success of their pairing in Nigahen: Nagina Part II directly led to Do Hanso Ka Joda (1992) being greenlit. The producer saw their test footage and decided to build an entire comedy around the two of them — a rare instance of a senior villain and a younger character actor headlining a film together.
