• Sunil was a struggling comedian when Prabhu Deva handpicked him for Thotti Gang (2002). Prabhu Deva had seen Sunil's bit roles and told the director: 'That guy is the funniest in the room. I want him opposite me.'
• In Kalyana Ramudu (2003), Prabhu Deva would set the rhythm of a scene with his dance-like body language, and Sunil would mirror it with his comic timing. Sunil once said in an interview: 'He moves like music. I just had to follow his beat and add the joke.'
• Their third film together, Michael Madana Kamaraju (2008), directly launched the career of director G. Nageswara Reddy. He was an assistant on their earlier films, and both Sunil and Prabhu Deva pushed the producer to give him a break. The film's success made Reddy a go-to comedy director in Telugu.
• On the sets of Thotti Gang, Prabhu Deva taught Sunil how to control his breath during long comic monologues. Sunil later said that one tip changed his entire approach to comedy timing. They would practice breathing exercises together before every shot.
