• Rajkumar was a first-time director with no connections when he approached Perumal for Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom. Perumal, already a known face, said yes without even reading the full script — just based on a 10-minute narration at a tea stall.
• On the sets of Jigarthanda, Perumal would deliberately mess up his lines in the first take to make Rajkumar laugh. Rajkumar then started writing scenes specifically to catch Perumal off guard — their prank war became the film's actual energy.
