• Disco Shanti was a last-minute replacement for the female lead in 'Santhana Kaatru' (1990). The original actress backed out, and Ganthimathi, who was already cast, personally recommended Shanti to the director after seeing her in a stage show.
• On the sets of 'Ilaignar Ani' (1994), Ganthimathi would deliberately flub his lines in the first take just to make Disco Shanti laugh. She said it broke her nervousness and helped her deliver a more natural performance in the next take.
