• Jyothika once said in an interview: 'Ravikumar sir is the only director who made me laugh so hard on set that I forgot my lines. He'd laugh first, then yell 'cut!' — and we'd do it all over again.'
• K. S. Ravikumar cast Jyothika in Thenali (2000) after seeing her in a small role in Vaali. He bet on her comic timing — and she delivered the film's biggest laughs opposite Kamal Haasan.
• On the sets of Arul (2004), Ravikumar let Jyothika improvise her lines in the village dialect. She rewrote half her dialogue on the spot. He kept rolling. That raw energy became the film's most replayed scenes.
