• Ponvannan was the one who pushed director R. S. Durai Senthilkumar to cast Jayam Ravi in Bhooloham (2015). The director initially had a different actor in mind, but Ponvannan insisted Ravi had the right physicality for the boxing role.
• In Bogan (2017), Ponvannan played a cop chasing Jayam Ravi's character. Ravi later said Ponvannan's intense stare during their interrogation scene made him genuinely nervous — and he used that real fear in the take.
• On the sets of Adanga Maru (2018), Ponvannan would deliberately stay in character as the villain even between shots. Jayam Ravi told a magazine that this kept him on edge and helped him play the angry cop more convincingly.
• After Bhooloham wrapped, Ponvannan gifted Jayam Ravi a pair of boxing gloves signed by the entire crew. Ravi still keeps them in his home gym.
