• Samuthirakani personally called M. S. Bhaskar for Kaaval (2015) after a mutual friend suggested him. Bhaskar was hesitant because his role was small, but Samuthirakani convinced him over a 20-minute phone call that the character had a crucial emotional beat.
• In Nimir (2018), Samuthirakani deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery to match Bhaskar's natural rhythm. Bhaskar later said in an interview that this made their scenes feel like a real conversation, not a performance.
• During the shoot of Naadodigal 2 (2020), the two would share a single cup of filter coffee every morning before the first shot. They called it their 'sync ritual' and did it even when the shoot location had no coffee shop — they'd bring a thermos from home.
• M. S. Bhaskar once said about Samuthirakani: 'He doesn't let me act. He makes me live the scene. I don't have to prepare — I just have to listen to him.'
• Their pairing in Nimir (2018) directly inspired director Priyadarshan to cast them together again in a Malayalam film — but the project fell through. The script was later rewritten for a different pair and released as a minor hit in 2021.
