• Raja and Srividya first worked together in Mappillai (1989) because director Rajasekhar specifically wanted a mature, experienced actress to balance Raja's raw energy. Srividya was 15 years older and had already acted in over 200 films — she was cast to ground him.
• In Moondravadhu Kann (1993), Srividya played Raja's mother — but they had played lovers just two years earlier in Karpura Mullai (1991). That age-gap switch was rare in Tamil cinema, and Raja later said Srividya made him comfortable enough to pull off both roles without awkwardness.
• Srividya was a trained classical dancer and would often teach Raja small movement techniques between shots on the sets of Mappillai. Raja later admitted he picked up his on-screen grace from watching her walk.
• Raja once said in a 1995 interview: 'Srividya akka never treated me like a co-star. She treated me like a younger brother. That's why our scenes felt real — because they were real.'
• Karpura Mullai (1991) was one of the earliest Tamil films to feature a widow remarrying as a central plot point. Raja and Srividya's pairing gave the taboo subject mainstream acceptance — directly inspiring two similar-themed films in the next three years.
