• Saritha was already a star when she signed 'Aval Appadithan' (1978). Rajinikanth was still finding his footing. Director C. Rudhraiya specifically paired them because he wanted a woman who could hold her own against Rajini's raw energy — and Saritha did, stealing every scene.
• In 'Thappu Thalangal' (1978), Rajinikanth played a deaf-mute. Saritha had to carry most of the dialogue and emotional weight. She later said that Rajini's silence made her act better — he forced her to listen with her eyes.
• 'Aval Appadithan' (1978) is now considered a feminist cult classic. But back then, it bombed. Years later, it inspired a whole generation of Tamil filmmakers — including Vetrimaaran — to write women who aren't just love interests.
