• Ravichandran was already a star when he agreed to do Adhey Kangal (1967). But he insisted on casting S. A. Ashokan as the villain — a role that made Ashokan a household name overnight.
• In Sathiyam Thavaradhey (1968), Ravichandran played the righteous hero while Ashokan played the scheming antagonist. Their face-off scenes were shot in single takes because both actors refused to break character — feeding off each other's intensity live.
• During the shoot of Engal Thai (1973), Ravichandran and Ashokan shared a room in a small lodge in Tenkasi. They would rehearse dialogues late into the night, often rewriting scenes together on hotel napkins.
