• Bobby Simha and Charlie first met on the set of Neram (2013) because director Rajesh M. Selva needed a fresh face for a small but crucial role. Charlie was a theatre actor with zero film experience; Simha was already a known face. Charlie later said Simha personally rehearsed with him for hours before every take, even though they had no scenes together.
• In Kanne Kalaimaane (2019), Simha played a loud, aggressive husband while Charlie played his meek, comic sidekick. Simha deliberately over-delivered his lines in every rehearsal so Charlie would learn to react with genuine fear — that flinch in the final cut is real.
• During the shoot of 777 Charlie (2022), Simha and Charlie shared a room for three weeks in a remote location. They developed a ritual: every night, they would watch one old Tamil comedy film and then improvise alternate endings for it. Neither has ever revealed what they came up with.
• Charlie once said in an interview: 'Bobby Simha is the only actor who can make me laugh and cry in the same scene — and then yell at me for messing up the timing.'
• Their pairing in Neram (2013) directly led to the casting of both actors in the 2014 black comedy Jigarthanda — director Karthik Subbaraj saw their offbeat chemistry in Neram and wrote the double-act roles specifically for them. That film later became a cult classic and launched a wave of dark comedies in Tamil cinema.
