• Manobala didn't want to direct Vikram Prabhu in 'Pakka' (2018). He thought the actor was too young and 'city-boy' for the village role. Vikram convinced him by showing up to the narration in a lungi and a worn-out shirt — he stayed in character the whole meeting.
• On the set of 'Asura Guru' (2020), Manobala would deliberately give Vikram only half the dialogue before a take. He wanted the actor to react naturally, not recite. Vikram later said that method forced him to listen instead of perform — and it changed how he approached every scene after.
• The success of 'Irugapatru' (2023) directly led to a wave of relationship-drama scripts being greenlit in Tamil cinema. At least three announced projects in 2024 cite its box office run as the reason producers finally said yes to 'adult conversation films' without action stars.
• Manobala and Vikram Prabhu had a standing bet on every film: if the movie crossed 30 crores, Vikram had to cook Manobala a full Chettinad meal at home. Manobala won all three times. Vikram still hasn't paid up for 'Irugapatru' — he says the 45+ crore hit means he owes a feast.
