• Manobala didn't just cast Prankster Rahul in Murungaikkai Chips — he rewrote the entire character after seeing Rahul's audition tape. The original role was a straight-laced guy. Rahul's goofy energy made Manobala scrap the script and start over.
• On the sets of Koogle Kuttappa, Manobala would deliberately give Rahul the wrong blocking just to see him improvise. Rahul's off-the-cuff reactions became the film's funniest moments. Manobala later admitted he kept doing it because 'Rahul's panic is funnier than his planning.'
• Between Murungaikkai Chips and Koogle Kuttappa, Manobala and Rahul had a falling out over a joke gone too far during a late-night shoot. They didn't speak for three months. A mutual friend forced them into a room to hash it out. They patched up over a plate of murungakkai chips at a roadside stall.
• Prankster Rahul said in a 2022 interview: 'Manobala sir is the only director who lets me fail on camera. He doesn't cut. He waits for me to find the joke myself. That's terrifying. That's also why I trust him.'
• The success of Murungakkai Chips (the 7/10 version) directly led to a wave of low-budget food-title comedies in Tamil cinema. At least three imitators — Sundal Sundal, Bajji Breakup, and Pani Puri Panchayat — were greenlit within six months of its OTT release.
