• Shafi Inamdar was a TV star from 'Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi' when Rajesh Khanna personally requested him for 'Anokha Rishta' (1986). Khanna wanted a fresh face who could match his comic timing — and Inamdar was the only one he auditioned.
• In 'Nazrana' (1987), Khanna deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery to match Inamdar's naturalistic TV style. Inamdar later said Khanna told him, 'You make me look real. I don't have to act loud.'
• After 'Anokha Rishta' flopped, Khanna called Inamdar and said, 'We'll do another one. I don't care about the numbers.' They stayed friends for decades — Inamdar was one of the few people Khanna let call him 'Kaka' off-camera.
• Their third film 'Kis Kaam Ke Yeh Rishte' (1995) was the only film where Inamdar got top billing alongside Khanna. It directly inspired a wave of middle-class family comedies in the late 90s — including the TV show 'Office Office' that Inamdar later starred in.
• Shafi Inamdar once said in an interview: 'Rajesh Khanna taught me that acting is not about shouting. He would whisper a line and still make the whole set cry. I learned more from those three films than from any acting school.'
