• Arjun handpicked Mayilsamy for Vedham (2001) after seeing him in a small stage play. Mayilsamy was a theatre actor with zero film experience at the time. Arjun told the director: 'He’s the one. I’ll adjust my scenes around him.'
• In Maasi (2012), Arjun deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery in every scene with Mayilsamy. He told the crew: 'If I go fast, he’ll rush. Let him set the rhythm.' That film became the only one where both their comic timing actually matched.
• Kolaigaran (2019) was the first Tamil film where Mayilsamy played a straight, non-comic role opposite a major star. Arjun insisted on casting him as the investigating officer. That performance directly led to Mayilsamy getting serious roles in two web series the following year.
• After Jai Hind 2 (2014) bombed, Arjun called Mayilsamy and said, 'Don’t worry, we’ll do a proper one next time.' They didn’t speak for three years after that call. Then Arjun personally drove to Mayilsamy’s house in 2017 to hand him the Kolaigaran script.
• Mayilsamy said in a 2019 interview: 'Arjun sir never treated me like a side actor. On the sets of Vedham, he’d ask me, “Is this line working for you?” I was a nobody. He made me feel like a co-star.'
