• In 'Sir' (1993), Gulshan Grover and Mushtaq Khan were cast as the two main villains — but they had never met before the first day of shooting. The director, Mahesh Bhatt, deliberately kept them apart during rehearsals so their first on-screen confrontation would feel genuinely hostile.
• Mushtaq Khan once said in an interview that Gulshan Grover would deliberately slow down his dialogue delivery in 'Naaraaz' (1994) to match Mushtaq's more measured comic timing — a rare move for a 'bad guy' actor known for his bombastic style. It made their scenes feel like a chess match.
• During the shoot of 'Ghoonghat' (1997), both actors discovered they shared the same tailor in Mumbai. They started coordinating their villain costumes — one would wear black, the other dark grey — so they'd visually pop against each other in frame. The director loved it and kept the look.
