• Karan was a newcomer when he signed Kaalamellam Kaathiruppen (1997). Srividya, already a respected actress, agreed to the film only after the director assured her Karan had the intensity of a seasoned performer. She later said she took a chance on him because he reminded her of her own early days.
• In Kannedhirey Thondrinal (1998), Srividya deliberately slowed down her dialogue delivery to match Karan's raw, hesitant style. This made their emotional scenes feel more real — she later told a magazine that she had to 'unlearn her rhythm' to let his vulnerability lead.
• During the shoot of Ilayavan (2000), Srividya would cook Karan's favourite sambar rice on set every Sunday. She called it their 'family lunch' — the crew would join, and Karan later said those Sundays were the only time he felt less nervous acting opposite her.
• The success of Kannedhirey Thondrinal (1998) directly led to Karan being cast in his first major solo-hero project. Srividya recommended him to the producer of that film, telling them, 'He carries a scene like he's been doing this for twenty years.'
• Srividya once told a fan magazine: 'Karan doesn't act — he lives the moment. I had to stop myself from crying in our scenes because he made me forget the camera.' She said this during the promotion of Ilayavan (2000).
