• For Aks (2001), director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra wanted Amitabh Bachchan to play the villain. But Bachchan insisted on playing the hero, and suggested Bajpai for the negative role — flipping the entire casting dynamic.
• In Aks, Bajpai played a character who could mimic anyone. He told Bachchan on set: 'I will copy your voice and mannerisms to your face.' Bachchan laughed and said, 'Go ahead, make me uncomfortable.' That scene where Bajpai perfectly mimics Bachchan's baritone was shot in one take.
• During Aarakshan (2011), Bajpai would arrive on set an hour early just to watch Bachchan rehearse. He later admitted he never asked Bachchan for acting advice — he just observed how Bachchan treated the crew. 'That taught me more than any workshop,' Bajpai said.
• Bajpai on Bachchan after Sarkar 3: 'He doesn't act. He just stands there, and the camera falls in love with him. I had to work twice as hard to not look like a fanboy in front of him.'
• Their pairing in Aks directly inspired the 2002 Tamil film 'Bala' — where a young actor (Vikram) played a dual role opposite a senior star. The director of Bala admitted in interviews that Aks's hero-villain dynamic was the blueprint.
• In Satyagraha (2013), Bachchan played a principled teacher, Bajpai a corrupt politician. During their one confrontation scene, Bajpai deliberately broke the script's blocking — he walked into Bachchan's personal space. Bachchan didn't flinch. The director kept the take because the tension was real.
