• Neeraj Pandey didn't want to cast Akshay in Special 26. He thought Akshay was too much of a 'masala hero'. Akshay flew to his office, sat through a 3-hour narration, and said 'I'm doing this film even if you don't want me.' Pandey later admitted that meeting changed his mind.
• On Baby, Pandey deliberately kept Akshay off the set during other actors' scenes. He wanted Akshay's character to feel like an outsider in the intelligence unit — so the actor's real confusion and isolation bled into the performance. Akshay later said it was the most 'uncomfortable' shoot of his career.
• The success of Baby directly led to the creation of the web series The Family Man. Pandey has said that the 'everyman spy' tone they cracked together — a guy who goes home to his wife after killing terrorists — became the blueprint for that show.
