• Nassar personally recommended Vijay Sethupathi to director M. Sasikumar for 'Dishyum' (2006). That was Sethupathi's first ever film role. Nassar saw something in a struggling theatre actor nobody else had cast yet.
• In 'Jigarthanda' (2014), Nassar played a veteran gangster who barely moves his face. Sethupathi played a hyperactive wannabe filmmaker. The whole tension of their scenes came from Nassar holding still while Sethupathi bounced off him — one controlled the silence, the other filled it.
• Nassar has said in interviews that he treats Sethupathi like a son. After 'Aandavan Kattalai' (2016), they started meeting for tea at Nassar's house every few months — no film talk, just life. That continued even after they stopped working together regularly.

• In 'Rekka' (2016), Sethupathi improvised a whole monologue about his mother during a scene with Nassar. Nassar didn't react — he just listened. After the take, he told Sethupathi: 'That's the take. You gave me nothing to react to, so the audience will react for me.' That became the final cut.
