• Suneel Darshan cast Karisma in 'Ajay' (1996) after seeing her in 'Raja Hindustani' — but she almost said no because the role required her to play a mother to a grown-up son. Darshan convinced her by rewriting the mother's backstory to give her more screen time.
• On the sets of 'Jaanwar' (1999), Karisma would deliberately flub her lines in the first take to make Akshay Kumar laugh and loosen up. Suneel Darshan later said she 'broke the ice' for the entire cast by turning tense scenes into giggle-fests.
