• For Attakathi (2012), director Pa. Ranjith first approached a different actor for the lead. Dinesh was a newcomer who had to audition multiple times. Aishwarya Rajesh, already a known face from TV, was cast opposite him. Their first scene together was shot in a single take because Ranjith ran out of film stock — and that raw energy became the film's signature.
• In Pannaiyarum Padminiyum (2014), Aishwarya played a village girl who barely speaks. Dinesh had to carry most of the dialogue. But Aishwarya controlled every scene with her eyes and pauses — Dinesh later said in an interview that she taught him how to act without words. He adjusted his pacing to match her silences.
• Their third film Thirudan Police (2014) was a flop. But the pair's easy banter in that film directly inspired director Karthik Subbaraj to cast them together again in a cameo for his 2016 film Iraivi. That cameo never happened — schedules clashed — but Subbaraj said in a podcast that their 'natural bickering energy' was what he wanted.
• During the shoot of Attakathi, Aishwarya and Dinesh shared a single room in a cheap lodge near Tirunelveli because the production budget was zero. They'd rehearse lines by candlelight during power cuts. Dinesh still calls her 'Akka' (elder sister) off-screen, and she calls him 'Thambi' (younger brother).
• Aishwarya Rajesh once said about Dinesh: 'He doesn't act — he just becomes the character. I had to work twice as hard to match his naturalness. In Attakathi, I was terrified he'd make me look fake.' She said this in a 2015 interview with The Hindu.
