Kollaikaran is a 2012 Tamil-language crime romance film directed by Tamil Selvan. The film stars Vidharth, Sanchita Shetty, and P. Ravi Shankar in lead roles. It follows Kuruvi, a small-time thief who falls in love with Krishnaveni and struggles to leave his criminal past behind. Set in a close-knit village, the story explores themes of redemption, false accusations, and family bonds. The film is a remake of the Malayalam hit Meesa Madhavan. Critics praised the screenplay for its strong characterisation and unexpected twists. The music was composed by Johan Shevanesh with lyrics by Vairamuthu. Kollaikaran was released on 13 January 2012 during the Pongal festival.

Storyline
Kuruvi is a petty thief who steals to survive in his village. He falls in love with Krishnaveni, but she rejects him when she learns about his criminal life. After a family wedding brings them closer, Kuruvi is falsely accused of stealing temple jewels. He must clear his name and prove he has changed to win back Krishnaveni's trust.
