Trivia
- The film was originally titled 'Don' but was renamed 'The Don' to avoid confusion with the 1978 Amitabh Bachchan classic.
- Director Farogh Siddique was primarily known as a screenwriter; this was one of his few directorial ventures.
- The movie's climax was shot in a large, specially constructed set to depict the villain's den, which was later reused for another film.
- Actor Mukul Dev, who played a supporting role, was a last-minute replacement for another actor who dropped out.
- Despite its action genre, the film's soundtrack by Anand-Milind included a popular qawwali number that received radio play.
- The film's release coincided with several other major action films, which affected its box office performance.
- A subplot involving the protagonist's sister was reportedly expanded during filming to add more emotional depth.
