Trivia
- The film's title 'Yennai Arindhaal' translates to 'If you know me', which is a callback to Gautham Menon's earlier hit 'Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa' (whose title translates to 'Will you cross the skies for me').
- Actor Ajith Kumar performed many of his own stunts in the film, including a complex fight sequence inside a moving bus.
- The character Victor, played by Arun Vijay, was originally written to be more of a typical villain but was reshaped into a sophisticated antagonist after discussions.
- The film's background score by Harris Jayaraj uses a recurring piano motif for the protagonist, a stylistic choice uncommon in Tamil action thrillers at the time.
- A significant portion of the film was shot in Turkey, including scenes in Istanbul and Cappadocia, which was a rare overseas location for a Tamil cop drama in 2015.
- Actress Trisha Krishnan, who plays the female lead, was cast partly because the director wanted an actress who could portray a character aging over a decade in the story.
- The film's climax, involving a confrontation on a bridge, was inspired by real-life police encounters the director researched about organized crime.
