Perumaan Full Story Explained (2012)

Shakthi is an IT professional living in Chennai. He works a regular nine-to-five job. He hates every minute of it. His real passion is acting. He dreams of becoming a famous movie star like Rajinikanth. He believes money is the only thing standing between him and stardom. He thinks if he had enough money, he could produce his own film and become a superstar overnight.

Shakthi lives with his mother. He is in a loving relationship with Shruti. Shruti works as a nurse. She loves Shakthi for who he is. She tells him to be patient. She says fame will come with time. But Shakthi cannot wait. He is impatient and arrogant. He feels the world owes him success.

One day, Shakthi meets Rajkumar. Rajkumar is a smooth-talking businessman. He offers Shakthi a way to make quick money. The job is illegal. Shakthi has to smuggle goods across the city. Shakthi hesitates at first. But the promise of fast cash is too tempting. He agrees to do it.

Shakthi starts working for Rajkumar. He makes good money. He buys new clothes. He pays off his mother's debts. He feels powerful. But each job gets more dangerous. Soon, Shakthi is carrying drugs. He is deep inside a criminal network. He cannot get out.

Shruti notices changes in Shakthi. He comes home late. He is secretive. He gets angry easily. She confronts him. Shakthi lies to her. He says he is working on a film project. Shruti wants to believe him. But she knows something is wrong.

Shakthi's friend Krishna tries to help. Krishna is a honest man. He works in a small shop. He warns Shakthi about Rajkumar. He tells Shakthi to stop before it is too late. Shakthi ignores him. He calls Krishna a loser. He says Krishna does not understand ambition.

The police start watching Shakthi. They know he is working for Rajkumar. They want to catch the bigger criminals. Shakthi is just a small fish. The police use him as bait. Shakthi realizes he is trapped. He cannot go to the police. He cannot escape the criminals. He is stuck.

Shruti finds proof of Shakthi's crimes. She is heartbroken. She leaves him. She says she cannot love a criminal. Shakthi's mother finds out too. She cries and asks him why. Shakthi has no answer. He feels empty.

Shakthi decides to end everything. He calls Rajkumar for a meeting. He plans to kill Rajkumar. Then he plans to kill himself. He goes to the meeting with a gun. But when he sees Rajkumar, he cannot pull the trigger. He breaks down. He cries like a child. He realizes he is not a killer. He is just a lost boy.

Shakthi surrenders to the police. He confesses everything. He is sent to prison. The movie ends with Shakthi sitting alone in his cell. He has no money. He has no fame. He has no love. He has nothing. His dream is dead. He is just another criminal.
