Piravi is a 1989 Indian Malayalam drama film directed by Shaji N. Karun. The cast includes Premji, Archana, and Lakshmi Krishnamurthy. The story follows Raghava Chakyar, a retired professor whose son Raghu disappears during the 1976 National Emergency. Chakyar waits daily at a bus stop for his son's return. The police deny arresting Raghu, who was tortured and killed in custody. The film is based on the real Rajan case. It won the Caméra d'Or special mention at Cannes and the National Film Award for Best Feature Film. Premji won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance. The film was released in 1989 and is available on select streaming platforms.

Storyline

Chakyar learns that Raghu was arrested by the police during the Emergency. He searches for his son, but the police deny everything. Chakyar's grief slowly breaks his mind.
