Trivia

  • The film's title 'Dilwale' is a nod to Shah Rukh Khan's 1993 hit 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge', reuniting him with co-star Kajol.
  • Director Rohit Shetty insisted on real explosions and car stunts, avoiding excessive CGI for the action sequences.
  • The song 'Gerua' was shot in Iceland, marking one of the first major Bollywood song shoots in that location.
  • Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon's characters were originally written to be younger to appeal to a new generation of viewers.
  • The film's climax scene involving a car in a lake required a special waterproof vehicle and multiple takes.
  • Composer Pritam reused the tune of 'Janam Janam' from an earlier unreleased composition for a different film.
  • Despite mixed reviews, it was among the top five highest-grossing Bollywood films worldwide in 2015.
