Therkkathi Kallan(1988)
Therkkathi Kallan (transl. Southern thief) is a 1988 Indian Tamil-language action comedy film written, produced, and directed by P. Kalaimani. The film stars Vijayakanth and Radhika Sarathkumar in lead roles. It is a remake of the 1987 Telugu film Bhanumati Gari Mogudu. The story follows a poor village man who agrees to a fake marriage with a wealthy heiress to help her claim her inheritance. Set between a rural village and the city of Madras, the plot explores class conflict, pride, and transformation. The film features a soundtrack composed by Ilaiyaraaja, with the song "Thilla Thaangu" later inspiring a chorus in the 2018 film Kaala. Critical reception was mixed, with The Indian Express noting the film's take on the 'taming of the shrew' narrative. The film was released on 22 April 1988.

Storyline
