Trivia
- The film's title was inspired by a popular Tamil novel of the same name, but the movie's story is completely different.
- This was one of the earliest films where actor Vijayakanth played a dual role, portraying both the hero David and his lookalike.
- Director Bharathiraja initially wanted a different actor for the lead but was impressed by Vijayakanth's performance in another film.
- The movie's climax was shot in a specially constructed large set to depict the villain's mansion and the final confrontation.
- Despite being an action thriller, the film included a hit comedy track featuring actors like Goundamani and Senthil.
- The film's release faced some delays due to issues with the censor board over its violent revenge theme.
- Music composer Ilaiyaraaja reused one of the film's popular melodies in a later hit song for a different movie.
