Shorgul is a 2016 Indian Hindi-language political thriller film directed by Pranav Kumar Singh. The film stars Jimmy Sheirgill, Ashutosh Rana, Suha Gezen, Narendra Jha, and Sanjay Suri. Set against the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots, the story follows a love affair between a Hindu boy and a Muslim girl that triggers communal violence. Politicians and religious leaders exploit the tragedy for electoral gain. The film received a U/A certificate from the CBFC after scenes referencing Godhra and cow slaughter were muted. It was released on 1 July 2016 and was a critical and commercial failure.

Storyline

In a small Uttar Pradesh town, a Hindu politician's son falls in love with a Muslim girl. Her jealous fiancé murders the boy, sparking a riot. A ruthless MLA and a fanatical Maulana use the violence to win an election. The girl must choose between grief and revenge.
