
Rowthiram(2011)
Rowthiram (transl. Fury) is a 2011 Indian Tamil-language action drama film written and directed by Gokul. The film stars Jiiva as Shiva, a young man trained in Kalaripayattu, and Shriya Saran as Priya, a law student who falls in love with him. The supporting cast includes Prakash Raj as Shiva's grandfather, Jayaprakash and Lakshmy Ramakrishnan as his parents, and Sendrayan as the antagonist Gowri. The story follows Shiva's struggle between his instinct to fight injustice and his family's desire for peace. The film was shot at real locations instead of sets. It received mixed reviews for its weak storyline but earned praise for Jiiva and Shriya's performances. Shriya Saran won the ITFA Best Actress Award for her role. The film's climax was changed after release due to audience feedback. The soundtrack, featuring the popular song 'Maalai Mangum Neram', was composed by Prakash Nikki. Rowthiram was released on 12 August 2011.

Storyline
Shiva learns Kalaripayattu from his grandfather and grows up believing he must fight evil. But his violent nature puts his family in danger and drives away the woman he loves. When a local gang leader wants him dead, Shiva must choose between protecting others and keeping his family safe.
