Kanuvagal Karpanaigal (transl. Dreams and imaginations) is a 1982 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by A. L. S. Kannappan. It stars Sarath Babu, Roopa, and Rani Padmini in lead roles. The story follows a young man whose dreams of love and a better life are destroyed by poverty, family pressure, and betrayal. Set in a rural Tamil village, the film explores the painful gap between aspirations and reality. The music was composed by Gangai Amaran, with the song 'Pillai Prayathile' set to the raga Hamir Kalyani. The film received a mixed review from Kalki magazine, which noted that dreams and imaginations are fleeting, much like the film itself. It was released on 14 May 1982.
