Aayirathil Oruvan is a 2010 Indian Tamil-language action-adventure film written and directed by Selvaraghavan. The film stars Karthi, Reema Sen, and Andrea Jeremiah in lead roles, with R. The story follows three characters who embark on a dangerous expedition to find a missing archaeologist and uncover the lost Chola dynasty hidden on a remote island. The film is loosely inspired by the historical decline of the Chola dynasty and the rise of the Pandya dynasty. It is known for its dark tone, graphic violence, and complex narrative. The film won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for R. Parthiban and developed a cult following over the years. It was released on 14 January 2010 during the Thai Pongal festival.
