Maha Yatra(1987)
Maha Yatra is a 1987 Hindi-language drama thriller film directed by Goutam Ghose. The film stars Shatrughan Sinha, Mohan Agashe, and Shampa Ghosh in lead roles. Set in 1829 Bengal, the story follows Chaandhal, a man who rescues a young widow from being forced into the practice of sati. The film explores the clash between British law and deep-rooted religious traditions. It is based on a novel and was produced by the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC). The film is the Hindi version of Ghose's Bengali film Antarjali Jatra. It features veteran actor Jeevan in one of his final screen appearances.

Storyline
In 1829 Bengal, a widow named Yashumati is forced onto her husband's funeral pyre. The priest Ved Maharaj orders the sati even though the man is still alive. A brave villager named Chaandhal stops the ceremony and saves her. Now they must run for their lives. Ved Maharaj sends his men to hunt them down. Chaandhal must protect Yashumati through a dangerous journey to safety.
