Sarvam Thaala Mayam is a 2019 Indian Tamil-language musical drama film written and directed by Rajiv Menon. It stars G. V. Prakash Kumar as Peter Johnson, a lower-caste mridangam maker's son, and Aparna Balamurali as Nurse Sara. The supporting cast includes Nedumudi Venu, Vineeth, Kumaravel, and Dhivyadharshini. The story follows Peter's journey from a carefree youth to a disciplined mridangam student under the legendary Vembu Iyer. It explores caste discrimination in Carnatic music and the clash between tradition and modernity. The film features music composed by A. R. Rahman and cinematography by Ravi Yadav. It was Menon's first directorial venture in 19 years after Kandukondain Kandukondain. The film received positive reviews for its performances and social commentary. Storyline
Peter Johnson is a lazy young man who finds his purpose after watching a legendary mridangam player perform. He fights caste discrimination and his own weaknesses to become a student of the master. But a jealous rival and a reality show trap threaten to destroy his dream. Peter must find his own rhythm to win.
