Neelampati Ammoru Full Story Explained (2017)

The film Neelampati Ammoru begins in a village suffering from a terrible epidemic. The villagers pray to the goddess Ammoru for help. The priests organize a fair to honor her. On that night, an old woman comes to the temple. She asks for prasadam, and only one kind young woman offers it. Later, the old woman visits this young woman's home. She gives her a neem potion and tells her to sprinkle it in front of every house to stop the sickness. The old woman promises to stay in the house until she returns. The young woman leaves but comes back to feed her guest. Through the window, she sees the old woman sitting as the majestic goddess Ammoru. To keep the goddess in the village forever, the young woman jumps into a well and dies. The goddess is now obliged to stay. She turns into an idol, and a temple is built around her.

Years later, a woman named Bhavani lives in the same village. She is a very strong devotee of Ammoru. One day, she sees a sorcerer named Ghorakh kill a young girl by burying her alive. Bhavani informs the police, and Ghorakh is arrested. This makes Ghorakh's sister, Leelamma, very angry. Leelamma and her family start torturing Bhavani. They force Bhavani to marry Ghorakh's nephew, Surya, a kind doctor. Surya leaves for the USA on a business trip. Leelamma then tries to kill Bhavani with the help of a creditor. Goddess Ammoru appears and kills the attacker. She then takes the form of a little girl named Papa to protect Bhavani.

Papa starts living with Bhavani. She tortures Leelamma and her family for their cruelty. Leelamma's servant realizes Papa is the goddess and stays loyal. When Surya returns, Leelamma frames Bhavani by putting another man in her bedroom. But Papa switches Leelamma's daughter with Bhavani. Leelamma's daughter is married off to that man. Meanwhile, Ghorakh is released from jail due to his epilepsy. He wants revenge on Bhavani. He tries to poison her food when she is pregnant. Ammoru saves her, and Bhavani gives birth to a baby girl.

Ghorakh realizes a divine spirit is protecting Bhavani. He finds out that Papa is goddess Ammoru. He tricks Bhavani into sending Papa away. Bhavani tells Papa not to return unless she puts a bottu (a mark) on her forehead. Ghorakh then kills Bhavani's baby daughter. He also tortures Surya with an evil spirit named Chanda. Bhavani is heartbroken and prays to Ammoru. But the goddess cannot return because the condition is not met. In a final attack, Ghorakh tries to disrobe Bhavani. Bhavani grabs the goddess's trident. Her hand bleeds, and drops of blood fall on the goddess's forehead, forming a bottu. The condition is fulfilled.

Goddess Ammoru returns in her fiercest form. She kills Ghorakh and the evil spirit Chanda. Surya and Bhavani realize that Papa was Ammoru all along. The goddess returns their baby daughter, whom she saved. She blesses the family and the village. The story ends with good triumphing over evil. Faith is rewarded, and the village is safe under the goddess's protection.
