
Panchlait(2017)
Panchlait is a 2017 Indian Hindi-language social comedy film directed by Prem Prakash Modi. It stars Amitosh Nagpal, Yashpal Sharma, and Brijendra Kala. The story is set in a remote North Indian village without electricity. The villagers pool their money to buy a powerful petrol lamp called a Panchlait. When no one can light it, an outcast villager named Godhan steps forward. His simple knowledge of the lamp challenges the village's social hierarchy. The film is an adaptation of Phanishwar Nath Renu's celebrated short story 'Panchlight'. It was screened at the International Film Festival of India in Goa. The film received positive reviews for its authentic portrayal of rural life and its strong performances. It was released in theaters on November 17, 2017.
