Trivia

  • The film's title 'Jodi' refers to the pairing of the lead actors, but it also subtly hints at the father-son relationship central to the plot.
  • Director Vishwanath Arigela is primarily known as a writer; this was his directorial debut for a feature film.
  • Actor Sampath Raj, who plays the father, had to learn specific mannerisms to portray a compulsive cricket bettor convincingly.
  • The French teacher character led to scenes being shot with basic French dialogue, which was a novelty for a mainstream Telugu action-romance.
  • Despite its 2019 release, the film's plot involving cricket betting coincided with real-world increased scrutiny of the issue in India.
  • The movie's soundtrack was composed by Ghibran, a composer more associated with Tamil cinema, marking a relatively rare Telugu project for him.
  • Part of the filming took place in relatively lesser-used urban locations in Hyderabad to depict the protagonist's middle-class setting.
