Trivia
- The film's title 'Marina Puratchi' directly references the 2017 Jallikattu protests at Chennai's Marina Beach, a key event in the story.
- Director M.S. Raj also served as the film's cinematographer, a dual role not very common in mainstream Tamil cinema.
- The movie was shot in a semi-documentary style to blend fictional narrative with real archival footage of the protests.
- It was one of the first Tamil films to dramatically center on the 2017 Jallikattu protest movement as its main plot.
- The lead actor, Naveen, is primarily known as a playback singer and this film marked a rare leading acting role for him.
- Despite its contemporary political subject, the film had a very limited theatrical release and flew under the radar for many audiences.
- The script was developed quickly to capitalize on the timely topic, entering production shortly after the real-life events.
