Veerappu Full Story Explained (2007)

Veerappu is the story of Pulippandi, a boy born to a strict math teacher named Vedhukannu. From a young age, Vedhukannu forces his son to study mathematics and become a brilliant scholar. But Pulippandi hates numbers and loves to fight with other kids. Every failure in school leads to harsh punishment at home. The father's disappointment grows into anger, and the son's rebellion turns into hatred. One day, after a violent argument, young Pulippandi runs away from home. He leaves his mother Gandhimathi and his sister behind with a broken heart.

Years pass, and Pulippandi becomes a local rowdy known as Puli. He is strong, fearless, and respected by the poor people in his town. He has a group of loyal friends, including a funny sidekick named Ratthan and another close buddy played by Santhanam. Puli falls in love with a kind woman named Bharathi, played by Gopika. She sees the good heart hidden behind his tough exterior. But Puli's father Vedhukannu still lives in the same town and refuses to acknowledge his son. Every time they meet, the father insults him and calls him a disgrace.

The main conflict starts when a dangerous gangster named Thilla comes to town. Thilla wants to control the local businesses and terrorize the people. Puli stands up to him and protects the innocent. This makes Thilla furious, and he vows to destroy Puli and his family. Meanwhile, a corrupt police inspector named Katturaja sides with Thilla. The inspector arrests Puli on fake charges and parades him through the streets of Thirunelveli in chains. Vedhukannu watches this humiliation and feels only shame, not pity. He publicly disowns Puli and says he has no son.

Puli's mother Gandhimathi and his sister try to mend the relationship, but Vedhukannu's pride is too strong. Puli continues to fight Thilla's men while trying to win back his father's love. Bharathi supports him and tells him to never give up. The tension builds until Thilla decides to kill Vedhukannu to hurt Puli. Thilla and his men attack the old teacher in his home. Puli gets the news and rushes to save his father.

In the climax, Puli fights dozens of Thilla's men alone. He takes severe injuries but never stops. He finally reaches his father and shields him from the attackers. Vedhukannu watches his son bleed and fight with incredible courage. At that moment, the father's heart melts. He realizes that his son is not a failure but a hero. After the fight ends, Vedhukannu holds Puli in his arms and cries. He apologizes for all the years of cruelty. Puli forgives him and says he always loved his father. The family reunites, and the father-son bond is restored.
